Beyond the Course in Miracles

Alex Bannatyne, PHD will talk on what is “Beyond the Course in Miracles”.

November 21,  2 – 4 pm

Sachi Wellness Center

Dr. Alexander Bannatyne received his Ph.D. in psychology from the Institute of Psychiatry, London University in 1953.

In London, from 1951 to 1960, he was also in an intensive Jungian psychoanalysis.

He is originally from New Zealand, and served in the Pacific in World War II, attached to a USAF Air-Sea Rescue Unit. In 1949, at the University of New Zealand he graduated in Philosophy and Education, as well as graduating from the Auckland Teacher’s College. While in London he developed County day schools for emotionally disturbed children and a Center for dyslexic students, originating many innovative ideas and practices in the process.

Dr. Bannatyne was invited to the U.S. (from London) in 1966 to become a professor at the Children’s Research Center at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.  From 1970 he was in private practice in Miami, Florida, but over the years, on and off, continued with part-time teaching, at several universities right up to 2003. In the fields of emotional disturbance and learning disabilities Dr. Bannatyne has written three books, numerous Journal articles, as well as a Reading Program used world-wide. He has lectured and done workshops in many states, countries and universities, and been interviewed on television ten times.

Since 1970, Dr. Bannatyne has also developed a many-faceted psychospiritual therapy which, in addition to the conventional therapies such as counseling, rational therapy and “talk therapies,” includes many integrated deep techniques mostly used while the client is in an altered relaxed state. These therapeutic techniques include, (a) past-life regressions, (b) between-lives to the present time—including pregnancy and birth, (c) talking with body parts, (d) dream re-entry investigations, (e) discussions with inner ego-children and with several other types of beings, including spiritual Masters and Guides. Much of this altered-state work is done with the cooperation of various Masters in a place called the “Land of Light.”

Throughout this work the client is encouraged to be on a broad Spiritual Path, and almost all his clients already are on one (e.g. A Course in Miracles, Yoga, Zen, Tao, Huna, Sufi, Cabala, or some composite of these), but no coercion is used. However, without the Spiritual aspect, therapy is usually far less successful. Clients are encouraged to re-discover they are an Eternal Mind Being within The Universal Mind-Consciousness Now, and that they are not a limited fictional ego in a “physical” body in a material world.

Several times a week since 1985, he has taught A Course in Miracles (ACIM). However these sessions also explore all Spiritual Knowledge alongside the Wisdom of ACIM.

In 1995 Dr. Bannatyne moved from Miami to Oregon, where his lifework in all the above areas  continues.
