Linda says: “In 2001 I left the United States for Ghana, West Africa. I left two grown children, family, friends, a backdrop manufacturing business and the comforts of home. I embarked on an adventure as a Peace Corps Volunteer that was to greatly impact my life. Three years later, my Peace Corps tour ended but I still felt the pull of the Ghanaian people, the land, their culture and my continuing desire to make a difference. I continue to travel back and forth from the US to the Tongo hills in Northern Ghana. This rural region of subsistence farming villages is rich in cultural heritage and community. Ghana’s most popular and well loved symbol is called GYE NYAME meaning “except for God”. There is nothing but God. It is a symbol of the deeply religious character of the Ghanaian people.”
